Fenesia.com – Firli Bahuri has resigned from his position as the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). However, the resignation letter has not yet reached the desk of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.

This was acknowledged by Jokowi.

Jokowi explained that Firli’s resignation letter had actually been submitted and received by the Minister of State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Pratikno.

However, the letter has not been delivered to Jokowi.

“Not yet, it hasn’t reached my desk. It has been submitted to the minister of state secretariat, but it has not reached my desk,” said Jokowi after visiting the National Seminar on the Outlook of the Indonesian Economy in Jakarta, on the last day of the week (22/12/2023).

Meanwhile, Jokowi mentioned that the presidential decree regarding the dismissal of Firli Bahuri is still in process.

“Everything is still in process,” he said.

On a separate occasion, the Coordinator of the President’s Special Staff, Ari Dwipayana, revealed that the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) had received the letter on December 18, 2023.

The letter used by Firli contained his statement of resignation as the chairman of the KPK.

Apologize to Jokowi

Firli stated that he resigned from his position on Thursday (12/21/2023). The resignation was made by Firli amid allegations of extortion against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL.

“So I am ending my duties as the Chairman of the KPK, and I declare that I am resigning, and I also declare that I have no desire to extend my term in office,” said Firli.

In the same statement, he also apologized to Jokowi.

He hoped that the President could accept his resignation.

“I ask Mr. President to kindly accept our request. Our apology and also on behalf of my family, I express my gratitude for facing public support during our dedication to the nation for 40 years,” said Firli.

Firli also requested to be given the opportunity to live as an ordinary citizen with his family.

“Give me the opportunity, my children, and my wife to live as a retired police officer, as an ordinary citizen, and as an Indonesian who loves his country. The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.
